|UDIMORE ROAD - RYE
Kirksaunders were commissioned by Jenner Group to provide Civil and Structural advice on this mixed residential development in East Sussex. The scheme consisted of the construction of 135 residential units nestled within 17 acres of parkland in Rye, East Sussex.
Kirksaunders undertook technical designs for the construction of the new road layout which was to be offered for adoption under a Section 38 Agreement with the Local Highways Authority this also included a new access in the form of a roundabout from the existing public highway.
We undertook full technical designs for foul and surface water drainage which were approved by Southern Water under a Section 104 Agreement. As part of the surface water designs a detention basin was incorporated to manage the runoff generated by the development as the site is situated on the outskirts of an area subject to flooding (flood zone 3). Intensive negotiations with the Environment Agency were undertaken as the proposed surface water discharge locations for the development were into an existing watercourse known as the ‘Northern Ditch’. This discharges to the River Tillingham which in turn is a tributary to the River Rother which is tidal.
